    Take a very close look at the scales. You will note that on every one, the silver inlay has buckled. I'm pretty sure they are NOT silver with enamel. (like cloisonné) which was my first thought when reading the description. To buckle, the material must have shrunk. So if they ARE enamel, its paint over wood. Any other material that might have been used would not likely be painted.
    I could be wrong. Anybody else have a thought?

    On the first close up it looks like It was honed with a grinder rather than a stone, the way the edge ends.

    Take a close look at the hinge pin compared to the wedge end?
