Three purple EP bottles
Three different sized bottles in reasonable condition.
Being purple dates them to pre-1914.

The seller called them colognes.
Were they holding colognes or aftershave?
Deep Purple a pretty good bandIf you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 220Look to be nice & thick. Anyone know why they're purple? My only guess is maybe to keep the UV out of the bottle.

Rolo, I can only preface these comments by saying "probably".
I've seen all three of these sized bottles with full or partial original labels
that marked them as Eau De Quinine. So, a hair tonic for men.
Firefighter2, up until 1914 the molten glass had manganese added to it to purify
the glass and make it crystal clear. Manganese came from Germany and they
stopped exporting it to use in munitions in WW1.
Over the decades the manganese component reacted with the sunlight to turn
the glass purple !! That's how we can identify these bottles as "antiques".
