    Default Ebay lot

    So this just arrived http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...8012&rd=1&rd=1
The straight is a Genco HenrysX 5/8 in great shape and the hone is a pike ezy-edge.
The DE's though, i dont have any experience in cleaning or using.
So was this a good deal with the hone? and how to deal with the DE's?

I'd say you did just fine since the DE on the left is a Gillette Fatboy and those are pretty highly sought after these days. If it cleans up well at all you should be able to sell it for $30 easy.

If the 'fat boy' on the left is in decent condition, you might make your money back.
The other Gillette is a older model, and I'm not sure which.
To clean the DEs, soak them all day in water and Dawn dish detergent, then scrub them with a toothbrush and rinse. Re do. Then, boil them for about 20 minutes. Scrub again with with the toothbrush. Get out the MAAS, Flitz, or Brasso and polish to get rid of the oxidation. Soak in baby oil overnight. If any more polishing is needed, do it now. Rinse in water to remove any residual polish. Load up a sharp blade and enjoy.

Thanks folks, but the straight shaver in me is more hone oriented.
The fat boy opens and closes, there seems to be a slight angle to it along the blade (thicker gap on one end), the numbers are legible and there is only slight oxidation. The butt end is an internal screwthread, should there be a cap? The other DE looks like a WW2 brass 3 piece, the tube has a crack in both ends and the press fit pieces are sloppy because of it.
