I always am uncertain when they say souvenir on them. It makes me wonder if they were really made as a quality shaving set or not. Other than that it has nothing bad to say about it.

This is what I have always wondered as well. I have always assumed these sets were made just post-WW2 when Germany was still trying to rebuild their industrial base and they had a lot of US serviceman occupying the country. Maybe the steel is good and the grinding looks fine but all of the colored blade etchings and plastic scales screams "cheap production" to me. If anyone here buys this one or has bought similar sets in the past I would love to hear their opinion on the quality.

I've owned quite a few of the individual Solingen souvenir razors over the last few years and everyone has been a great shaver.

I think it's just the midcentury aesthetics. Objectively they have a lot more craftsmanship and precision in them than, say, the modern-day hartsteel production.

As far as the materials, "I've got one word":

    Hi guys
I bought few weeks ago one of this souvenir "7 day set" on ebay, it was quite a score(200euro). They are all unused and un-honed. Bolher steel.
Looking at the blades, except for the engraving/decoration, the quality it's good.
Handles.......a real mess: All of them are bend, most of the blades touch the handles when closing the razor. Also the spacers, very poor quality.
I didn't manage to re-scale the razors yet so i've never shaved but the Bohlerstall is usually a synonim of good shaver.

Nice looking set. I'd definitely hone those and use them.

The final price seems a bit steep... But if they are good shavers then maybe not too bad. BMW, if you got a similar set for $200 you did well even if you have to re-scale them!

    Yes i think so Ernie.
I've got a quote from Revisor for 7 scales, 90 euro shipped. Considering rescaling and professional honing, the total price is fine. If the scales where good, it was a score. Like this, just a fair price. But if they really are good shavers than, i'll be very happy to enjoy 7 brand new Solingen made out of Bolher steel

My set is almost the same as the one posted by chopperdave, except for the spine of mine that are decorated. My box is identical but in a worst shape.
I'll update once honed so i can give you guys my feedback about how the souvenir set shave.

    Ciao
