Simple as that. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Long before the internet I wanted a Colt New Frontier 44spl with a 7&1/2" bbl. I had read a lot of Elmer Keith and was a 44 nut. I paid what may have been 'stupid money' for a minty copy.
I've not shot it half a dozen times in the past 20 years, and I could get more for it than I paid, but I just love having the thing and won't sell it. It ain't eating anything.
Sort of the same with the big meat chopper Sheffields and the other obscure objects of desire. I sold my big FBUs BTW.
The thrill was gone.
