Thanked: 0Opinions please: What's a chipped Goldedge worth?
Gentlemen, I turn to your for wisdom:
I picked up a DD Goldedge round point, describes as having no nicks or chips, on the 'bay, BIN for 39.99. Turns out the blade indeed has a few nicks and one chip of about 1/16 of an inch. The seller is offering me the choice of sending it back or taking a partial refund that we both consider fair. So what's fair?
I'll try and get some pics up if I can grab a camera.
Thanks.

Thanked: 0My suggestion is to send it back and give a negative response. He knew or should have known about the chip.

I'd send it back at the seller's expense (if possible), and then leave a neutral for making it right.

Thanked: 0Yeah, it looks like sending it back will be the only option other than swallow it. The seller prefers full refund/return to refunding me what I would consider fair. Bit of a pisser since I got hit by customs on the delivery, and I highly doubt Canada Post offers refunds in such cases.
Here are a couple of pics just the same. I'd already started cleaning 'er up...

Always get them to mark 'GIFT' on the postage, that way you dont get hit with the customs charge :P

DD Goldedges are expensive beasts. If yo don't mind to put some effort into honing the chip out and be left with a narrower blade you might want to settle for a partial refund. That way you'll have a realtively cheap DD.
You could even consider leaving a positive feed back (which might also benefit you) mentioning that he resolved the dispute to mutual satisfaction. He seems to be a repentant sinner, aren't we supposed to forgive?

Thanked: 0Irregardless of the outcome, I would give a negative feedback. He knew, or should have known of the chip. A chip makes the blade unusable. Therefore, he has commited fraud.
Give a negative so others don't get burned, and he stops being a cheat.

Thanked: 0Did the seller not post a picture of the razor?
As it stands now, she has offered me a $20 refund, which I accepted but have yet to actually get. The blade was closer to 6/8, so I think it'll be 5/8 or slightly under. If the refund comes through, I'll think the blade worth the money. If not, at least I won't be down $20-odd in shipping and customs fees for nothing in-hand.
The feedback would most likely have to be neutral. Bad description, good resolution to the problem. Unless I never get the refund, at which point I can go to town on 'er
