    I once heard a collector of some note refer to this phenomena of the current infatuation and monetary inflation of huge blades as buying "razors by the pound".

    I look at it more as the really rare, cool stuff has been sussed out via the internet. That goes for safety razors also.

    There's plenty of cool, rare, old razors going through ebay all the time. Good thing for people like me, everybody seems distracted by the other stuff...

    Should have added rare by certain brands ppl are hopped up to collect.

    More power to ya my friend. I would love to have I but mainly for collector reasons. I would have to at least take it for a test drive though. It was definitely a price to pay but then again a one of a kind. I'm glad it went to a good home.

    I personally go for restoration platforms when I buy huge sheffields. Even when I pay for a full restoration I save money in the end.

    I would not say 8/8+ are rare so much as they are uncommon on the open market. A lot of them have been soaked up and never end up back up for sale. I'd sell every other blade I have before I would sell one of mine.
