You are correct - one of them has the Maltese Cross and the GB stamp - a George Brittain Anchor razor, very rare and a very old example - sweet.

Thank you everyone for the great advice! Thank you cudarunner, I read the entire link and learnt a lot! Now I just have to try to retain it!! As far as the razors in auction,
How often are antique razors, such as those
    counterfeited?

For the current $116 bid, would it be worth it to counterfeit 2 very old razors?

I'm sure the seller intends the price to go up significantly

I'm kind of weird though... When I would buy coins (Roman and Greek) I could care less of the value. To me it was the historic interest. I prefer personable objects too... It's a nice connection to our past. When I retire off the force I plan on passing my service pistol
down to my son as well.

I don't think you have to worry about someone counterfeiting too many razors. Razors are not cheap to make to start. Only way I could see someone is maybe switch the blades around or not describing the razor in honest detail.
Is it over there or over yonder?

One thing to add.... I think most straight razor forgeries occurred back in the 1800s. Finding a fake razor these days is not very common.

GB is a little later, maybe late 18th. The other one is earlier, 1770s-80s era +/-, that's when that particular blade shape had a large popularity. To get more refined dates you'd have to track down that mark. It doesn't appear in Gales & Martin or Sketchley under razor makers, so it could be buried in the other sections if they weren't making razors at the time. A good possibility that the case is contemporary to the razors.

No these are really not counterfeited. Even the more valuable razors are generally too niche I think for people to want to copy them, with not a huge return on investment.
