Man made coticule ?

Any thoughts on this one? Seller does not know if its man made or not. It has saw marks on the sides. Looks like a nice hone.

Thanked: 3795Man made coticules are made from coticule dust and a binder in the same manner as a barber hone. They can be identified by being reactive to acid. That is, they will bubble when a drop of acid is put on them while a natural mined coticule will not react.

It may be a mined coticule, but the colors look wrong to me. Odds are better of it being a "man-made" coticule, but even that is hard to say from the pics.

I thought this too. White balance might be off? Does anyone have a man made coticule? That is something that sounds pretty interesting....

I looked at a couple of mine and the texture appears different on the sides. But that might be the rougher cut?

There is a man made coticule advertised in the classified. Its made by Esher. That type was disscused here earlier but I can't find the thread.

Thanked: 18That one is mine. I believe Peter started a thread about them in the hone forum awhile back.
