You may be right, I can think of no other reason someone would go to the trouble of fixing a broken tang like this. Also, I've never actually seen a razor made from a single blank broken off at the tang before.

This would be a quite nice challenge for the people of the "butchered blade" thread.

Looks like puddles of silver solder where the covered tang holes would have been. There was probably a break at the pivot hole that we can't see.
