Thanked: 7Recommendations on sellers
I'm looking for a shave ready razor. Under 50 would be great. We have a list of sellers that are recommended to look for etc? I hope is ok to ask this here. List like this could help new people get into straights.

First place to look: the classifieds here on SRP: http://straightrazorpalace.com/class...wcat.php?cat=3 Selection often changes, and there are sometimes sub-$50 offerings.
As for other sellers, you'll probably find that members here will suggest vendors with whom they personally have had good experiences. But an 'SRP-approved' (or something like that) list of vendors is (IMHO) highly unlikely.
BTW - where are you located? Adding that to your profile will help localize your search and possibly find someone nearby to act as mentor.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 4827Under $50 is kind of a tight budget for a shave ready straight. Thy do come up with some regularity in the classifieds. There are very few sellers that will deliver a quality razor in shave ready condition for $50.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

A shave ready razor under $50 is often near or past it's useby date or it's a 3/8 trimmer.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I'm not sure what the average charge for honing a razor is to shave ready nowadays but I think it used to average $20.00 + shipping each way. Last year , or the year before, I myself bought a 6/8 Wester Bros Manganese with original bone scales in the classifieds for $50 and it had a wonderfully shave ready edge. So it happens, but more often somewhere around $70 - $100 and probably add shipping.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
