    Not an expert by any means on the Puma's, curious though, what makes you think it's a fake? Is there no such thing as a Damascus Puma?

    I'm not sure what to think about that one.I remember about 10 years ago Wacker and the new Boker co advertised a damascus (welded pattern steel) razor. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that from Puma. Certainly not from the family owned era.

    OTOH, if you ebay search Puma Damascus there are currently 31 listings of knives. During the good years of Puma they never made a damascus knife. So these are the later, lesser quality Pima ..... Puma in name only .......... and if that razor isn't a flat counterfeit I'd say it is from the recent era of name only stuff.

    You are correct, when I was searching out some examples, this Wacker Damascus blade showed up:

    The blade shape an the Damascus pattern looks a lot like those Damascus razor shaped Pakistan made ones all over eBay.

    An interesting forensic thread. The material is pattern welded. The quality of the etching (pattern) is pretty crude, as is the pattern itself, and not what I'd expect from Solingen. The grind is nothing like any Puma razor I've seen or handled, which tends to help me lean toward an artifake. Those of you with more razors to look at can discuss the various manufacturers marks. I have no idea if they are correct for the company, but they do not seem to match either.

    That Puma has to be a rip off.

    The Wacker Damascus is still sold, at least in this Russian kiosk.

    We keep talking counterfeits but I don't think we have ever seen a documented counterfeit razor over the years on this site.

    That one doesn't look new to me and if it's a limited edition you never know.

    I have a Boker Damascus, a fairly new one and though it has all the markings on it they are different than any typical boker I've seen.

    This is true, I've yet to see a proven counterfeit straight razor, though they are not uncommon in vintage high end pocket knives, and I have seen some of those. This one does look odd though. Scales look to be short to me. Probably replacements. As Mike Blue said, the grind is weird for a Puma. Note where the tang is cut back a bit past the end of the blade ...... strange AFAIC.

    Here are some pix off the listing if anyone accesses this thread after the photos are unavailable on the bay ;

    There are new production Puma razors.
    I received one for honing a few years ago & it was rubbish . Bad fitting & warped spine. I don't know who bought the name but the build screams made in Pakistan.

    I will ask Manah to peruse his Puma razor catalogs to see if any razor is listed with a Damascus blade.

    Personally I think the eBay listed one is a terrible fake/substitute. It does not match any Puma profile in what I can see in Manah's catalog.
