    Default The Tip Hotline!

Instead of creating a new thread for every hot lead I come across, I will simply post them all here.

Basically, when I've got time to kill, it has become a habit to check various sites & such for razors and/or shaving stuff. That is, without using the 'Bay Unfortunately, my purchasing power (fun-money) doesn't always match my desire/ability to find vintage shaving items. To restrict myself, I normally look for sales, etc., a short distance from where I live. But I figured that since I was "just looking" anyway, I might as well expand the geographical scope of my search by more than a hundred miles. And if I find something "worth writing home about", I'd post a tip on the forum lol . Just trying to PIF with information, since I have little in the way of shaving paraphernalia to send to noobs & such.

For the time being, I will continue to post listings here, from time to time. If I do not provide a link to a company website, I'll probably post an address/date/time. I make no promises of repeating detailed information, that takes even more time than I'm trying to kill lol.

My caveat!: I have a couple of core sources (call them "aggregators"?) that I use more than a few dozen smaller/obscure ones. I completely encourage everyone to join in on sharing the wealth of information & post listings they find, but don't feel compelled to attend! But... if you post one of the very few sources that I hold "close to the vest", I'll ask that you edit the post to omit info leading to the source . I even thought about hitting "report" if a post were to give something away, but our friendly neighborhood MODs may not look kindly upon my use of that button in such a scenario .

    Let's get to the fun!

    The first tip I posted:
    http://straightrazorpalace.com/aucti...rea-folks.html

My next hot tip, for all those "Keen Kutter" fans:
    SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2016-10AM – Jim Clingan
This one is outside of Champagne, IL. I swear, it seems like someone walked into a Shapleigh Hardware store sometime before they closed up shop & said: "I'll take one of everything. Oh, and give me that Stockboy's apron, too!!!" 'Cause, yea, I'm pretty sure I saw a "Keen Kutter" apron...

Lol, because of the straight razors, silly! Many of these listings are dozens of images of household items, decor, kitchenware. I'm sort if scanning for keywords & patterns in images. My eyes cease to be "glazed over" when I see knives & some other manly things, because SRs are in that family of "sharp 'n shiny".

Like I said in my initial post: this has become what I do with my idle time. So my eyes were already working on glazing over, but this activity helps keep the gears in my brain moving & oiled, which is especially helpful when I'm too tired to work on one of my hair-brained DIY projects .

Well, they do look to be in pretty decent shape! And the one has a nice blade etching. "Hollow Ground *crown* Fully Warranted". Too bad the pic wasn't a higher resolution, I can almost read the tang stamp on the yellow one.

Got another possible lead, this time it is in Connersville, Indiana. July 7 again, starting at 10:05 am. No pics in for the SRs in question, in any of the listings, again, but I shot them a quick e-mail asking for pics.

The listing mentions "...straight razors including twins;...". No idea (without some frackin pics!!...) if that means a matching pair, or possibly some Henckels Twinworks? Will update if I hear back. You may also PM me for further info for this particular sale, but right now I'm moving on.
