    Default Badly described Red Imps

    I received these today: http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...DME:B:AAQ:NL:1

Description is adequate apart from the fact that both razors have one broken rather than cracked scale, one of the fractures has even been worked with a flame in what looks like a clumsy attempt to "weld" it.

I complained to the seller who offers me a full refund of the amount bid on the razors if I send them back, which leaves me out of pocket for shipping to and from the U.K. Or I can choose 33% refund if I decide to keep them (which I am not gonna do)

Is this reasonable or should I insist he also pay for the shipping?

It has been my fault not asking for better pictures of the so called cracks. looking at all the positive feed back he has I took correctness of description for granted (stupid as it turns out).

    Thanks for any advice/comment.

I'm surprised the seller didn't offer to pay shipping to avoid having a bad feedback/bad reputation here.

Kees, what he is proposing is proper. Send them back with tracking. If he doesn't refund the cost less shipping, take the issue to the PayPal complaint center. You only have 45 days from the close of the auction to levy a complaint, so don't delay. Good luck!

My opinion is that if an ad misrepresents the item, the seller is obliged to provide a FULL refund because if the item had been accurately described, the buyer would not have bought the item. Only a full refund returns the buyer to the position he would have been in if the seller had accurately described the item.

If the problem is obvious, something you can easily see with the naked eye I would request he pay all postage. If the problem requires magnification to see it then your getting into murky territory unless you know he's a knife or razor specialist which it appears he might be.

That's a shame..they look to be in decent shape from the pics. Ebay can certainly be a tricky place. Looks like they picked the nice side of the scales to photograph.

They did make some disclosure to the condition, but it nevertheless is deceiving. If you feel strongly about being fully refunded I suppose the sellers positive feedback record could be used as leverage.

I always as the seller to post (or email) pics showing both sides of the razor both the scales and with the blade open. If I'm not satisfied with what I see I either don't bid at all or sometimes I'll bid a small amount (one that if I actually won them and received them and they were a POS I wouldn't feel bad tossing them in the garbage).

That being said I've received some real doozies. Photoshop is a wonderful thing. So is having a cheap cam that doesn't reveal a lot of detail.
