CV Haljestrand w/ Ornate Scales - Missed it! Darn!!!
Was out watching some local fireworks and missed the end of the auction for this razor that I wanted the scales for:
Blade looks like it may be done, but can't believe I missed the end of this....
If anyone here got here it, would love to hear about it....dang...such plans I had....

Thanked: 3215I have one exactly like it, with the same exact cell rot, it will not hold an edge.
It is a pity, the scales were gorgeous. I have unscaled it, and still have the scales intact.

Those are celluloid 'faux tortoise scales' Andrew. I've restored the exact same razor for a friend...scales ended up going in the trash bin. The razor restored OK though...

I also saw this piece on auction last week, and declined just because the cell rot from the scales. I agree on the beauty of the scales, but letting a good piece of steel under its influence was a pity. Have enough Heljestrands in my rotation, BTW. Currently I'm in fever for a smiling 6/8 Ran Tan Ka Rus.

Scary thing about that one is the polished blade. If the potential buyer didn't have a sharp eye ..........
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
