    Default Opinions on auction appearances.

Just looking for some feedback on what attracts you to, or makes you pass by, any particular auction.

Normally, I try to put my best looking photo of a razor up first, to grab attention and get people to look.

I have an auction up right now, where I am trying something different. I'm trying the "fun" or "wtf" approach.

My first photo on this particular razor displays my focusing aid, "the legendary stuntkat" admiring himself in the blades reflection.

    Tell me if you would....

Does this sort of setup attract your attention?
Make you want to skip this auction?
Make you go "what the hell am I looking at?" and force you to take a peek?
Would you be more interested if I said StuntKat was a girl?

Which of the 2 pictures do you feel would be more successful at bringing in lookers....

I know the guy that uses his actual cat in the photos doesn't get any attention from me lol. All I care about is the razor, and the price, everything else has no bearing on my decision making.

    Good clear pics, no gimmicks.

Turn offs , bad feedback, blurry or dark pics as they just seem to be covering up flaws, and over priced shipping. Anything razor/shave brush size I like to see "small flat rate box" and the $6-$7 or less for shipping . Right now there is a brush on there that the guy wants way too much for along with $10.25 to ship it, thats a rip off, so I would pass that, unless it was something I "had to have".

I always use USPS flat rate, and the small boxes allow for bubble wrap and some protection, pisses me off to get a razor thrown in an envelope.

I have seen the actual cat dude too, I don't want anything thats been laying on his nasty cat hahaa. Not a cat fan, so thats a minus for me..

My other pet peeve being an Alaska boy is "CONUS only" ! Another absolutely pointless thing to limit sales, USPS priority to AK, and HI are usually within a dollar or two of anywhere in the lower 48 and still 2-5 days to get there.

Hey now, don't pick on cat-razor-guy. Knowing no mice have peed on your razor is reassuring to me!

Good clear pictures and show any flaws the razor might have and have reasonable shipping. I prefer "buy it now" with "make an offer" sales for buying and selling. I almost never have auctions unless I really sense a bidding war, it's too easy to lose money on auctions IMO unless you got the item REAL cheap or want to move it fast

Clear photos, try to keep reflections in the blade of camera/hands/body out of the photo. Artsy backgrounds complicate the image and are distracting IMHO.

Description including anything the potential buyer might ask. In particular the width of the blade at minimum. Blade centers in scales, or doesn't, cracks, chips, tight in the pivot, or not.

So for the very first pic, that would be the on e that shows on the search page. I scroll along and that pic has to catch my attention enough to get me to open the ad. Once the ad is open I look through the pictures clever pictures that show how reflective the blade is do ad some to the attractiveness of the ad. However that is not the one that gets me to open the ad. Just a clear picture of the blade face works just fine for me, with nothing reflected in the blade. Not the StuntKat or your hand. A crystal clear pic will draw me in.

I love cats, and I liked that cat ........ but this is about selling razors. I was thinking, Zak (Voidmonster) posted a thread/tutorial on taking pix of razors. Might be worth checking out ; http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...ng-razors.html

Others also contributed to the thread with their methods.
