Thread: Just Got Scammed!!

Hello all,

I have been laying low for a while, but I felt the need to warn everyone about a particular buyer on Ebay.

I recently sold a nice Mappin and Webb "Celebrated Hollow Ground" with ivory scales on Ebay for a fair price. The buyer then requested that I refund the money because the blade didn't measure the 5/8" that I said it did in the listing.

When I asked him to send me a picture of a ruler against the blade showing that it wasn't 5/8", he instead opened a case with Ebay. Without asking for my input, they sided with him and programmed my Paypal account to refund his money as soon as the tracking of the return said it was delivered.

I received the package today, and the money was transferred out of my account before I could even open it. Upon opening the package, I discovered a rusty box cutter. A RUSTY BOX CUTTER!!!

I am posting his name and address, so nobody else gets scammed by him.

If you see any variation of this name, or this address, avoid it like the plague. This worthless piece of is a thief. Don't be the next victim.

After selling ~30 razors over the years on Ebay, this marks the end. Guess it was a good run while it lasted.

He pulled the same crap with me last fall with a Joseph Rodgers wedge, claimed the ivory scales were plastic. Ebay sided with him without contacting me, and pulled the funds from my account as soon as tracking showed delivery. The box contained a broken smart phone case. Three phone calls to Ebay achieved nothing.

Damn! I can't believe he gets away with this. I have little faith that Ebay will take my report seriously. Done with them.

My father used to say that no one liked a liar or a thief. I've found that to be true.

It is quite apparent that this buyer is both!

While it won't return you funds or make you feel better at this point in time. In the future you might consider selling here at SRP with the Buy/Sell/Trade Section.

Also can PayPal be of any assistance??

Obviously, reporting to the community is cool, but I meant legal protection. Today he may buy a razor and tomorrow it may be something else. Is this not a crime that the police should be handling?

I just blocked him.

Sadly, he has a very good rating. I guess sellers give good feedback when he pays promptly, then either don't or can't change his listing.
