    Default Cost of Shipping Hones??

I'm thinking of selling some stones and I was wondering what it usually cost to ship a small hone or barber hone. I usually send SRs by USPS with tracking for $3. This is uninsured though. With a heavier stone, I didn't know of this would make it cost a bit more.
Anyone know, or do you just send it by flat rate box with insurance?

    Thanks

It's all about the weight and you need good packing with stones especially. A small flat rate box is hard to carefully pack unless it's a very small stone and a medium will probably cost you around $9 or so without tracking and insurance.

You can pack a barber hone in a flat rate small box.
Some bigger hones can be placed in a box and then if the box is the right size it will fit inside a flat rate bubble wrap envelope. That costs the same as a small flat rate box.

Medium size flat rate box is 14 bucks and some change. That with the standard 50.00 worth of insurance. Plenty of room for shipping most stones plus a lot of bubble wrap and packing.

I don't send anything without Signature Confirmation otherwise the recipient can just claim he never received it. Delivery Confirmation which is included just says the thing was put in a mail box, but whose?

I understand the rationale for signature confirmation, but I find it really annoying to have to take the time out of a day to drive to the post office to pick up one trivial item. For an expensive item? Yes, I get it; but I have had to make that drive too many times for things worth less than $10. Like most things in the world, some common sense would be appreciated.

I agree here. unless the item is >$500 or so...
And I've never been able to make sense of when the USPS allows you to sign that little slip and they'll leave it at the door the next day, or when you have to go to the post office to pick it up. I've ordered the same items from the same place with the same shipping option and occasionally I'm allowed to just sign the colored slip, but sometimes I have to go to the USPS storefront. Seems like there should be a simpler way.
(of course, as soon as I say this something will get stolen from my porch and I'll be eating my words)

For a couple bucks it's peace of mind knowing you are protected if a claim is made. Sure, as the buyer it's a pain to go to the Post Office though since I'm retired I make sure I'm home if I'm expecting something needing signature.

As the seller whether it's pay pal or eboy you're at a disadvantage from the start.

Which amounts to mail fraud, a federal crime.

I feel that the $50 insurance on flat rate is enough to get the post office to investigate whether the package was received
