Fake stamped Jnats
For a while there has been a suspicion that a certain seller sells fake stamped stones. Some people like his stones and some don't. I posted under the ebay thread a comparison of pictures between what he posted on his website and what the stones actually looked like. Well I now have proof that the stamps he is using are fake. Here is a stone that was sold in January and now appeared on this "gentleman's" website with nice fresh stamps. Of course it was suspicious that some random guy in Russia found an unlimited supply of Hatanakas and other stamped stones.
Be careful and don't give your hard earned money to scum bags.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have seen his site and eBay listings.
They look amazing and do sell but are obviously fake .

Alex the complex world of Japanese natural stones is difficult for us Westerners to understand. The misuse of the origin markings makes it almost impossible to navigate. The proof you have posted of fraudulent stamps points out again the need to heavily rely upon the integrity of the seller. Buyer beware! Thank you for this great bit of detective work.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

thanks Alex, finally the definitve proof.. this guy is simply a NO NO.. he can make fake stamps and sell as if original stones, expect anything from him.. A wise man does not deal with cheaters and counterfeits.

Well a quick update. He "sold" all the Hatanaka stones. Well my friend yourtogiya, if you are reading this post and I know you are because you mentioned SRP on your website, we know you just pulled them off the market. Once a scammer always a scammer. No you didn't sell all your hatanaka stones miraculously overnight. You just proved to us that we were right the whole time.

Thanked: 315If I had the disposable income, I would love to try jnats. That being said, I wouldn't want to deal with most of the sellers out there since I'm not knowledgeable on the topic and I don't know the guys.
A great thing about this forum is there are so many members trying to look out for each other.- Joshua

Thanked: 3795You might get to try some in September. My wife and I will be in Bogart, GA visiting her parents and I intend to arrange a meet-up somewhere for at least a day in order to take a break from them. Perhaps a two day meet-up in a bar might be better!
