Thanked: 3Ooops I did it again
I wanted to put a bid a minute before auction ended, with no hope of winning it, but I got it. Not sure if its a great deal, ($35 including shipping) but I look forward to cleaning it up, honing it and trying it out.

Thanked: 634I was going to bid but you would have out bid me. Nice buy. Should clean up nicely. Remove the scales and soak in neetsfoot oil. Fill any cracks with super glue. Sand and polish. They should look great.

Thanked: 315Nice. Had a beautiful hollow Reynolds I sold when I was first getting into the hobby. One of the top 2 I regret selling.
Mike suggested 3M Metal Restorer and Polish to me recently so I'm planning to try that when my Mothers metal polish runs out.
Ditto what boushcie said about the scales. If you're like me and try to avoid unpinning (because they never get repinned!) it you can soak the blade and all.- Joshua

The only thing about soaking the entire thing in oil is it lubes the pivot. Thdn it will feel loose. So yes soak, but try and clean out that pivot after with a careful drizzel of alcohol to remove the oil from it. Just something ive done a couple times and it helped.

Thanked: 3Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement everyone! Really appreciate it. I'm not experienced in pinning scales, so I'll go the route of soak the entire thing in oil and remove the oil at the pin with alcohol. Thanks for the tips! I'll post pictures when done. It may take a while but I'll git 'er done!

Thanked: 315I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how much difference few small things make.
Do any scale work/filling before soaking in oil so the scales aren't saturated already and the glue/epoxy can really bond.
Let the scales soak for a while. You can let them soak a week if you want! I think Outback usually soaks them at least a week.
I believe it was Sharptonn who recommended using floss picks to clean the pivot. Sounded like a good idea to me me!- Joshua
