Ever seen a strop like this?
Saw this on a Dutch auction site.
Seller claims it is a razor strop.

Thanked: 13245No that is a first but now I want one hehehe
The design makes me wonder if it was for a more specialized tool or perhaps surgical instrument maybe that is why we haven't seen many ???"No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"

Thanked: 1587I agree with Glen - that has to be for a specific instrument/purpose. I can't understand the language, but I'm guessing Antieke means antique? Wonder if it was for surgical or dental instruments? Specialised wood-carving isntruments?

Thanked: 556I suppose if you can do a rolling X-stroke on a narrow hone, you can do a rolling strop on a narrow strop. The curved part would seem to make the razor stropping motion take a very natural path. It would be interesting to try it out.
When I first saw the photographs, I thought of a travel paddle strop. It really does look like a top notch piece of kit.David

Thanked: 556I zoomed the image to take a closer look at the material on the edge. It looks like thick felt or suede rather than the smooth leather I would normally expect on a strop. It also looks as if there may have been some compound on it, but that may have been a result of shadow in the photo.
Like Glen, I’m now quite intrigued. I haven’t been able to find anything similar using an internet search.David

I suspect it was a limited production piece. Probably there were very few made and since it was in the Netherlands it would get less attention.
