I wonder what the scales are made of? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanked: 0Those scales are super rare and highly sought-after. I believe they are just made from celluloid or similar, but the design is so unique (and fragile) that a razor with a good set of these scales commands big bucks. One of these with black scales went a while back for about $30-40 but the scales were pretty busted up. A very nice design in my opinion, but it looks better in black.

I saw the balck pair you mentioned... which makes 2 that ive ever seen...
I'm 50/50 on which colour looked better, but i agree you don't see them very often.
The final price, even considering the rarety, still seemed high... but i guess these things are worth whatever someone will pay.
