A bit steep?
Okay, this W&B went for $370, isn't that a bit much? I can see it's a nice enough blade, and the scales are in good shape, but it seems to me you could pick up a razor much like that for a fraction of the price...

Thanked: 0Phew! Is it the 9/8 width of the blade that's responsible?

I just happen to be restoring one at the moment. From what I see on the blade I'm working on, that is now a 7/8, that would be a good price to get one. It weighs a ton! It's huge. I don't think I could shave with it. It would be like shaving with a machete! I honed it and the steel is fabulous. The edge is perfect from point to toe. It is brutally sharp!
Here's a progress photo of the one I'm working on.

Thanked: 416But what none noticed Brother was that on the back of that blade was engraved the map to the lost treasure of black beard the pirate! Quite a bargain I say!

Thanked: 4I have 3 such blades in my toolkit that I would happily part with for a special price of only $1000. I will even leave the authentique "patina" for the lucky buyer.
I really enjoy refurbishing the old razors and have spent a silly amount of money lately setting up to do so but when I look at that razor and then I add the labour to clean it up for use I would just buy a RW.

Thanked: 10Hey Ken,
Thank you for posting the razor you are working on for me. It only makes it more exciting to me and I can hardly wait to see it in person. I actually got this razor for a great price, but I would have been willing to pay more. It is huge but I usually shave with two razors because of the way my fur lays. A big one on the the cheeks and neck and a smaller on under the nose and chin. The barbers notch is a great feature and makes it much more versatile. Ken has mentioned how great the steel is and I believe razors of this age are very special.
Thanks again Ken for your hard work, it looks beautiful.
