Default Snagged what may be a beaut...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230228026303

So I snagged the above linked razor for less than five bucks shipped. The pictures are horibble, and I've never heard of Goerge Butler & Co. but any chopper with scales like that that mentions barber's use seems like a no brainer.

Wuddaya think gentlemen? anyone know of this brand? I'll try to post better pics if it turns out to be a gem.

    Cheers,
    Landis

Hmm..I was just thinking how on a different type of board that statement could have a really different meaning. I'd better drink my coffee and wake up I tried to find George Butler & Co in the Standard Guide to Razors and did find George Butler & Sons, 1848-1926. From what I see of the pics I think you did indeed snag a beauty.

    So a little update...

The razor arrived in what I feel is pretty stellar condition. The blade has some pitting, and some scratches but relatively little honewear. The scales are MASSIVE, in great shape and have a metal spacer. They are tight and centered.

I'll try to post pics of this one...

To the MAAS and the hones tomorrow!

i saw a similar razor the other day at a antique store, however it was called Butlers Whistler (and i'm pretty sure shefield england was on one side of the tang, and then the box said george butlers on it, i think it's the same brand but i don't know if the whistler is a variation on the brand? has anyone heard of this brand before? I think it was under $20, a good deal? had some tarnish but nothing serious.
