Thanked: 0one duck two duck
i won this auction a while back and the razor arrived today. well, a razor arrived today. i received a dublduck goldenedge in questionable condition instead of the special no 1. it's decently rusted and the gold wash is going to have to go to get it clean, and there's about an eighth of an inch of hone wear on the toe, so i think it may need a regrind to be "useful", but the scales are in decent shape. do i send it back for the mystery duck in the blurry photo with the cleaner blade, or keep the goldenedge and send it out for a grinding?
EDIT: actually i'm pretty sure i got this one...Last edited by emile; 04-01-2008 at 08:59 PM.

You bought from what I like to call a "busy seller". Busy sellers don't have time for refunds, exchanges, communication, etc. All they want is moving product. If you can find a phone number to contact them directly then that is probably the best thing you can do. Tell them what happened and they will probably just offer you a full or partial refund. And if it were me, I'd take it and use the refund to restore the goldenedge...

Thanked: 0i contacted the seller, she said there was no way it was the wrong thing so i'd have to prove it with a photo, i sent an annotated photo (included below for your entertainment) and suggested i'd settle for either her sending a prepaid mailer with which i can exchange this for what i bought, or a refund. i'll let you know how it goes, then if need be jump over to the resto forum for advice on that mean toe wear

Haha...I think you're right there...that is definitely not the razor you paid for. I like the nerve some sellers have, "no...impossible, I couldn't have made a mistake" I would say do what you feel most comfortable with, if you have your heart set on the other exchange it, if you want this one...ask the seller if you can keep it. I'm assuming if you got this razor, then someone else probably has yours?

I'd be more concerned with the rust near the edge. I hope its only surface rust otherwise your going to have to hone it all out.

Thanked: 0She replied saying she would pay exchange shipping on both razors, and would ship mine out as soon as the other recipient returns their razor. I asked for a prepaid mailer as I don't have an inclination to go package or purchase such things, and haven't heard back. At the one week mark I'll re-recommend she just refund my purchase.
The coloration on the edge is a heavy grease-like substance (it's pretty gross, with hair in it) that I'm not touching until I own it. The spine is nasty though. Those rust scales are pity city.
