    Default C.V. Heljestrand

My wife came home with this framback from Heljestrand its date stamped 1866. with Sandvik-Bessemer-stal on the blade. Just curious if it is of any "great" value for me to be tinkering with.

I can't figure out how to attach the pics but they are on these links.

Looks like a nice blade from the pics.. I like it and would have it restored.

What $ value would you put on this? I'm new to restoring so I dont want to mess up a razor that has significant value. I have tumbled 4 blades so far and they look great. Currently I'm getting my wood working skills down so I can make scales.

I guess my question is Should I let someone with experience get this one up and running so its shave ready?

That's subjective, if your on the hunt well it could be more. If your passively looking it could be less. I have personally paid somewhere around $55 for a shave ready version of the blade you're showing.

    Hope that helps.

    Kind regards,

From the looks of it, I have one exactly like it except it has white scales.

Does it have a "H" engraved on the other side on the tail near the scale?

They are not very rare, and with enough patience you can find one on ebay for $10-$30. Hope this helps you decide what to do with it.
