Thread: Double Ducking Hone System

I believe it is system set up to use the Lee Valley honeing films.
A clamp sytem to tension the film over a leather stropping section.
Seems pricey but hey if it does the work on its own......

I have never used any of the abrasive papers or mylar but will say from looking at two pieces of wood, one with a nicely cut out back, the other with rounded edges, finished, threaded insters installed, time in labor, maybe a profit on top of that, etc...... the price looks fine.
This is not like making one for yourself where time does not count. Most vendors are not just doing this for fun but need to show some profit on what they sell.

Looks reasonable to me.

The most likely source is HERE.

For the record, I used those micro abrasives to hone my first straight.... it worked just fine but later when trying to improve on that edge I managed to get a serious wire edge but we'll chalk that up to operator error. Not long after that incident I switched to a Norton. Shortly after getting the Norton, I gave Howard a call and now the Norton sits unused most of the time, my Blue and Yellow hones seem to be all I need when combined with a CrO pasted paddle strop I made as long as I'm not working on ebay specials.

The issue with this device is the same as using sandpaper. It is difficult to keep the paper from bunching up in front of the edge even ever so slightly. I see that this device has a clamp down mechanism but not a paper tightening device.
I do like the idea of the papers tho.
Back to the drawing board.....

I think you're right about the source. I had a transaction with Paul for another item and we started talking about his system. I told him I'd be interested if I could get custom micron sheets but he couldn't provide that. The micron sheets on that site are the same Paul offers.

Who is Paul? Can someone please reveal his SRP user name?
