I agree, kind of weird. Altima55 has now sold a Goldedge with no goldwash for over $500 and this Robeson for over $200 this week.
I really wonder what's going on, other than the obvious?
I think my plan I'm tossing around is going to be something I'll implement: Limit myself to a dozen great shavers to keep more or less for my lifetime and have a thirteenth spot to rotate in and out one razor at a time and that's it. Then, if this runaway train ends up going out of control into IMO silliness, I can step off, enjoy awesome shaves for as long as I can hold my razor, and have fun.

It looks like there is no shortage on ebay , of people with more money than brains . Of course , it's more fun when you win it . A year ago , that razor would have gone for around $60.00 , tops .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Wow, in 12/06 I bought a Union Cutlery razor from Altima for $25 and an essentially NOS 7/8 Friodur with bone scales for $167....Now look at the market. I'm glad I got what I did when I did

EDIT: Of course there are probably guys who've been in this for many years who were laughing at what I paid. I guess its all relative.

I just hope that in 5-10 years, the market that we're a part of doesn't price us right out of actually wanting to shave with these things.
The general public could care less about straight razors and most men think the idea of actually shaving with one (I would venture to guess that even some strict non-shaving razor collectors as well) is ridiculous. IMO let's just hope that down the road the average or above average vintage straight doesn't cost $500-$1,000+ making it then much less viable for the average man to actually want to use these things for their intended purpose as opposed to having them sit in a shadow box on someone's wall next to that person's other collectibles.

I just had to buy at least one of altima's razors and I was embarrassed that I shelled out $76+shipping. Now it doesn't look like a bad deal. The 6/8 "Yea Olde English Razor" Sheffield is still among my top 3 shavers 4 months later..
