    Default belgian blue?

hey I just came across this
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Belgian-sharpeni...QQcmdZViewItem

and was wondering what you guys thought of it as the lower grit coticule?

Im also lookin at some vintage hones that I think would do great for someone just starting out they are around 20 bucks with the following brands

    MALGAMIT, W R CASE & SONS CUTLERY CO.BRADFORD PA
    or
    SALM
    or
    NO. 200 ALOXITE

they seem like they are in good condition and reasonably priced (round 20) to learn on. If you guys know any of the brands would you recommend any of em?

I note that the description uses the exact same text that our friend Wojtec76/open_razor uses to describe the Belgian Blue, but perhaps they both get it from the distributor or mine? The price is just a little less than what Howard sells for a slightly larger stone, I think.

As far as natural stones, IMO a Belgian Blue is the best lower grit water stone. The one you've given a link to from Australia with shipping included would within $5 of what Howard Schechter, a great guy to deal with, would sell a 4"x2" Belgian Blue for including shipping. I suggest checking out www.theperfectedge.com for your Belgian stone needs. Howard is also more than happy to talk sharpening on the phone.

I owned and recently sold an Aloxite Barber hone and even though I didn't use it much, it seemed like it would be a good fine grit barber stone.
