Thanked: 0How rare?
I found this Clark and Hall Straight while surfing today.
Ebay item #260254029498
I was thinking of bidding on this, but since it is on the upper end of what I can spend I decided to pass. However, as I continue to add to my collection, I am interested in your opinions. Do you think it is truly rare? I followed the links they have posted and it certainly looks like the museum piece they reference. Thoughts/recommendations anyone?Last edited by gunner6477; 06-21-2008 at 10:01 PM.

Thanked: 53Well that's interesting - I just snagged a C&H - item 250259504795. I was the only bidder and won it at $19. I don't plan to sell it but I was hoping it was woefully underpriced. I don't know how rare they are, but they're old. According to this reference CLARK & HALL were in business from 1797-1823.
Seems my link was hosed, can't make it work properly so I took it out.Last edited by clrobert60; 06-22-2008 at 04:08 PM.

Judging from the pics I'd say its definately the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, about the time this company closed its doors(if your reference is correct) was the time the straight handle became bowed, such as we have today. Nice piece, have fun with it!
BTW check out ebay and you can see how rare they are, they dont usually show up for sale in that good of condition.Last edited by nun2sharp; 06-25-2008 at 10:16 PM. Reason: BTW

I personally find these razors rather attractive. They are old and odd looking and I guess that's the main selling point. As most things not in existence value is a rather elastic quantity.
