A cool seven day set that almost has the "Lou Point"
So I was reading through some old threads, and I came across the "Lou Point" (http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...html#post95540)
Then, I'm cruising Ebay, and I came across this: 1840s BRITISH CASED WEEKLY STRAIGHT RAZOR - eBay (item 350076776899 end time Jul-13-08 14:21:00 PDT)
I scrolled to the pics and, before I looked closely, thought I saw the Lou Point: http://pxxx.fr/3/3-nb5.jpg
That would have been awesome, but it's the heal end of the blade. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a nice set, but seven Lou Points would have been awesome.

You're wrong. that is not a point or heel. That is the tang.
I am restoring a set just like it atm.
Those razors come with 1 set of scales + shank, and you can click the razor into the scales via a spring mechanism. That's why the tang is shaped like that. It's a key/lock mechanism.
The one I am working on is > 100 ys old, but the fit of the spring mechanism is still tight and functioning correctly.
This was done to make the whole set compact, as the box only has to measure 4" by 2,5"
The blades themselves are close to 2,5" instead of 3"
A set in that condition is actually very nice, and worth quite a bit.
EDIT: just to be clear: all 7 razors will look like that. It's how they are supposed to look, and I feel lucky that I have the opportunity to restore that set for JMS, even though I will have to send it back when it is ready.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
