Ebay putting a limit on shipping charges
Well, at least some shipping charges.
I'm selling off my vinyl album collection piece by pain in the butt to list piece. I have an Ebay notice saying that starting in October, the limit that can be charged for shipping those types of items will be $4 max. I have no problem with that since I don't sell much on Ebay.
I assume Ebay will be putting limits like this on categories other than things that are shipped media mail?

Thanked: 26They're also going to disallow check/money order payments. It's going to be all PayPall, all the time. Right now, PayPal is a necessary option but not the only option.

You can always write in the listing if you accept other payment methods. If you get paid whatever way you can ship it to the buyer without Ebay's interference.

Thanked: 26From eBay:
What if I don't take at least one of these steps by late October, 2008?
You will not be able to list new items or relist using the same templates. Your current listings will remain on eBay.com until they end. Good 'til Canceled listings will be displayed on eBay until they come up for relisting at the end of 30 days.
Do I have to remove references to prohibited payment methods from my templates and item descriptions?
Yes, you must remove references to prohibited payment methods from your templates and item descriptions. This will not be done automatically. If prohibited payment methods are included in your item description, your listing will be in violation of the new Accepted Payments Policy.

IIRC the US used to have something like a Monopolies and Mergers Agency. They should investigate this (if it still exists).
Basically what ebay is doing is forcing ebayers to use PayPal (which is owned by ebay), in Europe that would be against EU regulations.
One way round this would be to add in your listing: "winning bidder will get an email with payment details within 24 hours".Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

And then ebay/paypal will wonder where is that money we were supposed to get from Kees, and they will pull the plug on your ebay enterprises. It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 13245They are trying to eliminate the shiping $15.95 and BIN .99c option that some sellers use....Ebay doesn't make any money that way....
I would be betting that you see an end to BIN in the near future also.....

I saw that too... but too many packages that are not sent priority and with a tracking # mysteriously disappear sometimes... so thats the only way I ever ship... and shipping a book this way is more then $4 lol... so i already have decided I am going to place a notice at the top of the auction telling people that we have raised the minimum bids to cover the additional shipping costs that ebay wont allow us to charge.
and I am surprised they are allowed to force people to use paypal being that they own it... that just doesent sound right at all .... well legal is what I mean
