Default What's the deal with this?

JASSIANO GERMAN STRAIGHT RAZOR & COMES SHAVE READY - eBay (item 150293319849 end time Sep-19-08 17:45:00 PDT)

It's a nice looking razor and I've had it on my watch list, but $294??? Has anyone heard of this brand? I searched the forums and only came up with one thread from '05.

Like you said... nice looking razor but not special enough for 294.00 IMHO.

the bidding history looks a bit strange - one of the bidders went from 50 to almost 300 before he gave up

That means that he set his maximum bid when the razor was about 50 bucks, and his maximum bid was 289.99. Everytime someone else made a bid, his account automatically "one-upped" the bidder, so it always showed him as the high bid. Eventually, the auction passed the 290 dollar mark, and he wasn't willing to go higher. Since his account didn't have permission to automatically bid higher, the next guy's name showed up as the high bidder.

But, yeah.... I'd rather have the $$, too.

That buyer paid about $220 more than I would have paid for it . Some people will pay ANYTHING to get what they want . I may want a certain razor , but if the price goes higher than what I think it's worth , I back off , and let it go .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

No, it looks like the winner set his max bid to over $294 when outbidding the $30 bid of the second in line. Then that later person bid incrementally from $50 to $290 within 10 minutes and gave up.
The incremental bidding within such wide range seems unusual to me..
