Thanked: 44My crazy mirrored 2 razor set is up for sale!
Ok guys I have put up my 2 razor set on ebay. As you all know, these things are pretty rare and this one is pretty old so I set a reserve but if the ending bid is reasonable I will take it even if it doesn't get the reserve price. You can see how much work it took if you read the post in the gallery. So if you want something nifty like this go to...

Nice Chris! Good luck on them. One thing- You say they are a "French tip". They don't look like a french point to me- more of a spanish or notched point.

Thanked: 44Well i put it that wau because the bottom of the toe is a full 1/8" further out than the spine. I know it is concave instead of convex but it sticks out noticably beyond the rest of the blade and it would be much more if the ends were not rounded so much. I have several spanish and they are all even so I called it a french. I guess I should list it as a hybrid then. I'll think of it and maybe I will change it.

Yeah, technically it is a Spanish point. I bid to help drive it up.

Very nice work indeed!!!
Is it just the picture or does one of the blades have a crack in the bone at the bottom pin. If so, has the crack been stabilized in some way?

I hope the pair not only find a good home, but that they fetch a generous price for you, Chris. I give you kudos on your listing as well. In the few razors I've listed in the past, like you I've followed the golden rule of listing that almost no one on Ebay does: List things as you'd like others to list. Full disclosure, brutal honesty, etc.
Given your experience and the very high quality work you do, the only other thing I feel you could have added with no regret is mention the work that you did in restoring the blades themselves. As a buyer, I would feel comfortable with knowing a razor was restored by an experienced razor user and restoration artisan. For me it would not detract from the value.
Unlike you and your listing, I've said this recently that a huge pet peeve of mine is knowing a razor has been completely dismantled and restored but not disclosed as such in any way. It sticks in my craw especially when I see such razors fetch hundreds and hundreds of dollars and I think many assume they're in unaltered original condition.
If all Ebay razor listings were like yours instead, our little razor world would be tons better off.

Dreadnought point? Perhaps they were not named such until later when the Royal Navy ships with such bows came along.
Barbers notch pretty much covers it all.
Gorgeous razors and a great listing.

Thanked: 44OK I will switch it over to a Spanish point in the add. The wedge pin is mentioned in the disclosure and it is the result of the blade being a wedge and pushed into teh scales. that forces them into the ivory/bone/tusk scales and causes the split. I have a dozen blades like that and it is typical of the older blades. They don't really need stabilization if you don't go slamming the razor into the scales but I sealed it with CA and sanded them smooth. No more problems there.
