    Default Really old razor

VERY OLD STRAIGHT RAZOR KNIFE HORN HANDLE 19 CENTURY - eBay (item 200256382704 end time Sep-28-08 16:00:00 PDT)

I really would like to get my hands on this and restore it. I am fairly certain that is Arabic writing on the one side of the blade, but it doesn't make any sense to me - Which means it could very well be in Farsi also. Thoughts?

Looks more like a knife than a razor to me, granted I've never seen anything like it.

It'd be a nice conversation piece either way.

It's hard to read on my computer, but I think it says 'faleel,' which my persian dictionary says means, ""Broken, notched (sword); a camel's notched canine tooth; a thicket of trees" (Steingass, 989). Not a word I knew.

edit: just had a second look. It could also be 'khalil,' which is likely someone's name.

It's a traditional Japanese carpenter knife...or at least thats what it appears to be!
