    Default Is this Fili legit?

FILARMONICA #13 Old Spanish straight razor. - (eBay.ca item 230299393600 end time 14-Oct-08 13:59:30 EDT)

It looks good to me but I wouldn't know how to tell otherwise, I just know that there have been some bogus Filarmonicas showing up on eBay lately. The seller has 100% positive feedback and they've sold Filis in the past. They listed this one previously as a "buy it now" for $459.00 with no takers. I've only been straight shaving for a short while (a few months) and I'm just starting to build a collection. I've got 8 razors now (my girlfriend seriously thinks I've lost my mind) that range from ok to pretty nice, but I'm still looking for that first gem. Filarmonicas like this have attracted me since I started to become interested in straight shaving about 6 or 8 months ago. I think it might be the 50's/60's pastel look that does it for me for some reason (don't know why though, I was born in the 70s). Anyway, I'm really hoping that this is the real thing and that it will somehow miraculously stay in my price range. Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated.
In return, a blue thing scratching its head:
    Thanks guys.
    -Jeff

BTW if this is the real thing and you feel compelled to bid, just realize that you may be personally responsible for a grown man doing a little of this:

Looks genuine to me. I have seen similar green scales on a Fily before.

Yep its real, I purchased a fili 12 from him and I guess by luck its scale was cracked and I sent it back to him in exchange for a NOS fili 13, I got it far cheaper then the 300+ there going for now :-)

Good luck if you go for it!

    Good day,

    McKie
Is the one selling for 260 bucks in the Classifieds the "same" razor that the one ClassicShaving is selling for 120$? because if they are identical, 140 bucks is quite a difference... you should rush and buy one from ClassicShaving!

I thought the same thing and rechecked at Classic. They appear to be sold out already.

I have no idea where these rumors come from, but I will be very interested to see these bogus Filarmonicas.
This one looks just like all the others that I've had and have, so I have no reason to doubt its authenticity.

Don't believe the hype! Are they good razors? Yes. Are they worth $300+? I guess that's up to you. I have $30 razors that shave as well as my filly. YMMV.

Personally, if I was going to spend more than $250 on a razor, it would not be on a filarmonica. But if you have that kind of cash(and you might not after last week's market dump) then go for it. Even if I had that kind of money for a razor or any other item, I still won't pay an inflated price for something. But I'm cheap, frugal, etc

Default +1 on Kubrick's post above.

I had been thinking of buying a filly, but I am completely disheartened by the fact that they are being so heavily marked up right now. Especially when folks are selling the one classic was selling but for so much more. Flipping razors like that is a poor showing, especially in the classifieds here on SRP. Basically, folks are taking advantage of newbs by doing stuff like this. That is my opinion and we all know what those are like, (hint: Everyone has one and they all stink).
