Ebay, filtering keywords ????
Is there a way to filter out keywords ?
Menaning, can I search "straight razors" and have the word "zeepk" filtered out ?
It would be so much nicer if the 100's of ads for that zeepk crap was removed !
thank you

straight razors -zeepk
standard boolean search process; that is a minus symbol

There are some other tools you can use to refine your search under "advance search"
To exclude certian sellers:
Under the section labled "From Sellers", mark the middle selection to chose "From specific sellers" in the drop down menu select "exclude" then you can copy and paster the user names into the box to totally ignore that seller from showing up in your results.
To keep certian words from showing up in your results:
the secton "Exclude these words" allows you to do just that, just leave a space between them
Alternative method for excluding words:
If you are searching from the search bar, you can exclude words by using the - symbol as in...
-zeepk
To search for an item that can have different spellings:
If there are more than one spelling of a word, and you want to search, you can enclose the different spellings in ( ) to list both. In the following example, "straight razor" and "str8 razo"r would both show up...
(straight, str8) razor
Hope this helpsLast edited by ShotgunLuckey; 12-22-2008 at 05:32 AM.

also I often just get into the razor catagory, there are basically two catagories that people list them under, I get into the catagory then do my searching, if you are searching for certain terms and they are a bit more precise then make sure and check the box for searching within description not just inside. I really pride myself on searching, true sometimes I find a trick I didn't know, but I'm pretty damn good. right now I'm searching for the right balance of Jack and coke in this new tumbler I got, a few more drinks and I'll have it!
ebay has pretty good search functionality, but on other sites remember you can always google against them. I do that sometimes here if I am searching for something under 4 letters, since this crazy bb search doens't let that work.

This is my search string for Ebay.
straight razor -zeepk -kamisori -masterusa -master -knives -knife -kriegar -Shavette -100 -rz -mu -gift -giftset -pocket -CHANGEABLE -DISPOSABLE -New -DURHAM -DUPLEX
I am sure there are other ones to add to the string to be able to exclude the garbage. Just save the search string in your favorites.
