$869. Are you freaking kidding me? SOMEONE still has money to throw around in the razor world. Then again, someone will ALWAYS have money to throw around in the razor world no matter how bad the economy gets. There's a VERY good chance that the buyer is CASE collector first and razor collector second.
My best are on Alex selling his in the near future! I gotta say, at this point, if I had a single razor that could fetch close to 1 large I'd be selling it. That amount of cash could buy some nice shop equipment!

If we were on The Price is Right I would have seriously lost .....
Thats insane $869 .... unless it was far more rare then anyone realized and a museum bought it !
I get the feeling it must have been one serious collector who needed it ....

I'm not in the market. Just like I choose not to compete with Keen Kutter, E.C. Simmons, Winchester, Remington, etc collectors who could give a rip about a straight razor other than the fact that the razor has their coveted brand stamped on it somewhere.
You think like I do, Alex regarding the shop money. I wouldn't fault you a bit for putting yours up. Be sure to put CASE CASE CASE about that many times in the description to get the Case collectors circling before the feeding frenzy.

That was a Case Brothers Springville, NY. They started up that location in 1912 and went bankrupt in 1915. W.R. Case & Sons bought the assets including the Tested XX trademark and the rest is history. They were related but not the same company.
Since that trademark was only used for the three years it is rare and sought after by Case collectors. The Gowanda, NY trademark is even rarer or so I have read. If you do put it up Alex make sure to mention the Springville, NY in the description and the title.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
