When I sharpened mine Ihoned the ground side like any other straight. The other side I had to think about it for awhile and decided to set it flat and lift the spine ever so slightly till the very edge came in contact with the hone. did this very sparingly on my barber hone as to prevent a bevel from forming. You would probably be better off using a pasted strop for your honing only touching up the bevel side when needed on a stone. I you don't have a pastes strop be very delicate with the wedge side.I shaved with it the same as my duck. Inoticed no difference in feel or quality of the shave. Some far more experienced members might tell you otherwise but i cannot. One thing to remember is that the totlat width of your bevel is going to be half as wide like comparing a metal chisel to a wood one(just for visual reference).
