It probably won't matter in this case, as a Case collector is assuredly going to get it, but it's advisable to always use "straight" and "razor" in your description. Otherwise the item won't come up when we lazily tap in "straight razor" to the ebay search block.
Great item page BTW!

Yeah, I realized that too late- once there are bids you can't change the title. Either way, unless my reserve is met, it'll still be mine. So I'm waiting to see if a Case collector does in fact find it and gets the reserve. For some reason I couldn't sign up to the Case forum and let them know lol.

Also, I think that you should have probably waited a little before trying to sell your. You need, at least, two bidders to make the price go up and one of them is probably still recouping from his last buy ;-). This is clearly a razor that would not fit everybody's budget.

I would assume Alex set the reserve high enough to be satisfied if the auction meets his reserve.
I rarely sell razors on Ebay, but when I have I've since learned to completely avoid a no reserve .99 cent or ridiculously low starting price. It eliminates any chance that you might actually have to drop a perfectly good Torrey in the mail to someone after selling it for only .99 cents even though, thankfully, that person for an eternally puzzling reason never paid and never responded to the unpaid auction I reported to Ebay. In the end I kept the razor and learned a great lesson.

Chris is right- all I need is one bidder to meet my reserve. Don't need two guys bidding against each other in this case (no pun intended).
Say you set a reserve at $10. If the item is currently at $2 and another person bids his max of $15 the price doesn't incrementally go up as it normally does, but instead jumps to $10 because the reserve is met. Now he would need another bidder for the price to reach $15, but once the reserve is met, he should be happy. So it is with this one.

I think I asked this before but couldn't find the answer when I was seraching for it. why is this razor worth so much money?
has anybody shaved with one and how does that blade shape work out? If it is good how come nobody has a custom blade maker duplicate it for them? just curious as I think it looks cool, but not 500+ cool.
and has anybody figured out why we can't see the names of the other bidders, it irritates me.?

Pretty sure I answered this in another thread before... It's probably the best shaving razor I've ever used. So comfortable, smooth, sharp, and easy to use. I think that isn't just from the shape though.
They are rare because the Case Springville factory was only in business from like 1912-1915 and that's the only time these were made. You just don't see a lot of them. That plus the fact that anything made by Case is automatically collectible just because they have such a cult following (I'm not just talking razors).
As for custom makers making one- I have done at least 3 or 4 with this shape in my practicing. It's tough to grind that shape well evenly. But yeah, once I'm taking orders and/or just making razors to sell I'll be doing extreme shapes like this. If it were to sell I also copied all the dimensions exactly so that I can recreate one for myself.

But if nobody goes over the reserve price, you do not sell the razor (which may be good). My point was selling the razor. If you are only after obtaining the reserve price for the razor, why not a buy it now or sell it somewhere else...? I would have thought that a bidding war is exactly what you would like to see, am I missing something here? Also, isn't January the worst time of the year to sell stuff? Well, you guys know your Ebay, I try to avoid it as much as I can.

Al- couple things to note here- A similar although not identical razor sold on eBay one or two weeks ago (ending on a Friday night also) for $869. January won't affect the price on such a desired item IMO. I don't have a problem with the razor not selling. I love it. I just saw the time as being ripe to try and get a high price considering the other that sold. IIRC the fees on a Buy It Now sale are much higher. A bidding war is fine with me but not necessary. Only thing that's necessary for me to sell the razor is to meet my reserve price... and right now it's not even close.
