Who's going after the Dutch Rattler?
hey guys, is it one of you going after this monster?
Cut Throat !! Large Joseph Rodgers Straight Razor!! - eBay (item 190278851258 end time Jan-12-09 17:00:27 PST)
I was going to bid on it, but it's about triple what I was going to put out. its big, but what can be done about that stupid "dutch rattler" engraving? it looks pretty deep, you'd have to really grind it to get gone. of course it might be interesting for somebody able to do a regrind, make it a 1/2 hollow?
who's going after it and what are your plans?

sorry man, I hate competition on auctions, we probably all do I guess. i like the ones where everybody else does like I usually do and forgets to bid. I thought this one would go high, and I'm really glad it has that engraving because I don't have the money to bid it out with somebody and if it were missing that I'd be sorely tempted.

I was in, but since it's been posted, I'm going to set it and forget it. Instead of waiting, I've already entered my high bid.
Good luck to everyone.

Yes competition is great, but when its just who's pocket book is bigger its pointless. Thats why i don't usually post links on the forum unless the auction is already over, people comment about how good of a razor it is etc it just attracts more people to bid. so in affect we are driving up the prices on ourselves. I think finding a cheap razor with a misspelled name or something and getting it cheap is kinda the reward for scouring ebay for hours every other day or so.

very sorry then guys, I'll stop posting them till they're over. because I'm new I sometimes want input before I commit to something seriously, I'll just PM certain guys I talk to instead if I'm in the market, ones I'm not after I'll leave out all together. sorry if I messed either of you up.

Meh, I'm sure that there were already quite a few of us watching that one, and I'm sure that some snipes have been set for days.
The last W&B you won Red, I was going to try to snipe it until you posted that you were exited and bidding on it. I'm happy you got it, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.

Don't be sorry... I guess the lot of us were on it before your post... and it was already gaining the sky-high prices before.
Usually, when somebody is saying that he is bidding for a razor, I don't enter the competition - I do only if I have put my highest bid before the post. Maybe I am naive, but I think that there will always be another one.

Hey Paul, there is another one on there right now! not quite the same condition but it's there. I appreciate you not going against me. I'll pm you the item number
I'm the type that if it's friends I'd talk to them about it, they might want it more and I'd rather not hurt their deal by making it higher if they're really willing to go after it. i too think there's always something else. I've been resisting a lot and am getting much pickier now that I 1. have less money, 2. want to try different blades rather than just end up with say a bunch of good looking 5/8's. I skipped a thistle cut that went for 7 bucks becasue she didn't send me better pics.
