Joseph WOSTENHOLM EBRO 8/8 Straight Razor shave ready! - eBay (item 150322323873 end time Jan-27-09 18:43:19 PST)
I have two questions. 1. would whomever it is let a brother borrow it for getting copied?
second question I guess is for local knife maker on if he'd be willing to copy a blade like this. the guy I'm thinking of used to charge 50-85 bucks for a really nice ATS34 hunting knife, micarta or stabilized wood handles.

I'm amazed that that razor is going for over $200. Partly because of the cracked scales but moreso for the deep deeply pitted areas.
Wow.

Damn, 200... I bid 120 or so on this one. Would have liked to clean it up and replace the scales or have it done by someone else in case I failed... but for this sort of price, that looks like it would end up costing a lot of money, relatively speaking. Are these so rare?

Those big For Barber's Use blades get hot sometimes I got lucky and picked up a W&B for $81.00 a few months ago but I have seen the meat choppers go into the three hundreds.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Notice that it is not a George Wostenholm & Sons Washington Works Sheffield pipe or IXL, but Joseph Wostenholm Ebro.

It's funny, I just mentioned to another member the other day that going for a shiny wedge, particularly one that is sold as "shave ready"on the bay wouldn't be worth the price. Some maas will make it shiny, and a trip through the hones will make it shave ready. IMHO, not worth the premium.
Then lo and behold, cracked scales, deep pits all over and it's over $200 with an hour to go.

I had a snipe on it for 150.00, guess I will pass on this one. I really want to try a wedge blade like that. They all seem to go for 150+ lately.

HOLY COW.......$405???????
Is NOW the time for me to sell this???
Maybe I wouldn't get $405, but man, I've got my antique store chopper radar UP UP UP.
And nope, I'm not selling my W&B. I like it too much.

well, note that only two people wanted it as bad as $400
my take on it is that it's not the width but the stamp that makes it desirable.
but i'm not a big fan of these so i don't follow them that much.
