VINTAGE WADE & BUTCHER 8/8 STRAIGHT RAZOR - eBay (item 250413738049 end time May-02-09 18:16:08 PDT)
Looks like it had its tip lopped off.

I'd agree it's chopped. My large W&Bs measure 3 1/8" from tip to rear shoulder. The razor is listed at 2 3/4". Even measured from the front shoulder, it would be 3" even. The barely visible manufacturer's stamps are another clue that this razor has had some serious restoration work done.
That said, it's a W&B. So it's genetically a great shaver. The work actually looks very nice, and they kept the original bullseye pins. I like the scales. No telling what condition they saved it from to turn it into such a nice piece.

I changed my mind, it looks to be shorter than it should be. the angle of the photography is throwing my perception off

Thanked: 156That one looks cut as well to me. Especially seeing the 2nd picture. If the scales are original, and they look to be, the blade does not go up to the correct length. But I could be wrong. Either case, even if it is shortened, it wasn't shortened by much per the centered engraving.
