Partly what Larry said. The several I had did microchip. Others didn't. Basically I had to find he right combination for that particular Friodur. The ones from the Shavingshop were easy honers. The ones from the Polish seller on Ebay hell. But once you hit that sweet spot... divine. I heard and read that many had the same issue. I have no clue why the difference for the same razor. Different batches for sure and why some honed up so great wthout headache is still a mystery to me. Maybe the G man or Lynn have a answer to tne riddle as both have honed their share of steel too.
