I always use registered, insured post unless its a cheapie.

From what I know shipping int. to Europe gets expensive once you add all the extras.
There is no tracking available for First Class Mail Int. or for the small flate rate box priority service.
You need to jump to Priority Mail International which has tracking and there's the insurance option at a fee (plus some other features).
That means that shipping a small lightweight razor parcel with First class mail int. goes from +- $5.00 to a whopping $25.18. For 60 cents more you might as well go for Express Mail Int.Last edited by Maximilian; 05-07-2009 at 02:18 PM.

I'm waiting for a DD from Turkey since the 17 of April. I expect it will take time and the seller seems to be on the level. If I ship overseas anymore it has to be priority international with insurance. No other way. Registered requires that each postal employee who receives the item sign for it and keep it locked up in the registered items bin every step of the way so it is usually safe but slower.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I've had a lot of straight's sent to me here in Norway from the US with 1'st class international over the last year, from e-bay sellers, the classifieds and most of the restorers on this forum. No trouble what so ever but it sometimes take 14-21 days. Record is 3 days from DrFred in Texas.

Jimmy is that inbound to US shipment from a seller by the handle Nazo by any chance? I bought a Filarmonica 12 and Henkels Friodur INOX from him last month and they arrived about a week later. He seems upfront and honest and some of the razors I got were better than pictured. There are a few others in Europe that I'm still waiting for though - registered so I guess that's why so slow. Slow as tar but I guess registered is safer.
Has anyone ever priced DHL or another airborne carrier from Europe to the US for a SR? I'd be willing to pay a bit more for that assurance. But not a fortune.Last edited by AirColorado; 05-13-2009 at 12:10 AM. Reason: Was tired and thinking of the wrong seller!

I have never had problems with international shipments.. and if you live in a small country like the Netherlands things get international pretty quickly. It is Just that if you are receiving goods you have to trust the sender that he/ she has send the package.. and that was what this was all about anyway..
I just looked it up on the USPS website and you could add a service for $11 dollar to send packages registered. they also have a service that would get you a certificate of mailing for only $1.15 Wouldn't either of those help?
I'm a bit bothered by all this international shipping hassle because I've had some bad experience with sellers not wanting to sell internationally because they thought it wasn't worth the "trouble".
In the end it is all pretty easy.. Mail the package and have some proof you played fair.

Thanked: 402If I had to pay 28.00 USD for shipping a razor I would just not buy it.
I get supplies for my soaps from the US a lot and there has only been a problem once,
when it took four months to arrive. In such a case normally you talk.

I have been waiting for a DD Special #1 from Nazo since April, 17th. I notified him through ebay just the other day and he quickly responded with a reg. # from the USPS. He has 100% feedback and there is another forum member who posted recently that he received a couple of razors from him so I have high hopes. Worst case scenario if the razor doesn't get to me within 45 days I have that amount of time to file a dispute with Paypal. Let's hope we both have our razors well before that.
