MAXAM STRAIGHT RAZOR WOOD HANDLE-$14?
I am new and looking to purchase a 'good' razor and one that I will 'practice' with. Is this
worth it?
EDIT:
I just read the rules and realized I posted this in the wrong area
It appears I don't have the ability to delete so will someone please move it to the appropriate section. Thank you very much.Last edited by MaxLOL; 05-09-2009 at 04:38 PM. Reason: oops

I'm not sure about them. They don't appear to be on the razor's to avoid list. I'd be careful. Even a practise razor needs to be functional, or you can't improve whatever aspect you're practising.

Thanked: 13245I could have sworn that these were on the NoGo list... I have not actually ever touched one of these, but a general rule of thumb is that any new production razor that is neither a TI or a DOVO (and sub-brands) is suspect.....
You know those shoulders look very Double Arrowish
Hey there is a thought you can buy a Double Arrow and we know those are usable and they are $9-$11 all day long on E-bayLast edited by gssixgun; 05-09-2009 at 05:17 PM.

Thanked: 13245Picks pepper out of the salt and answers "New Production Razor"
Which the Wacker re-grinds are not, unless of course I am out of date and Herr Wacker has now started producing blades??? which I did not know of, which could be entirely possible, as I do not know everything...
To answer though yes the Wackers are good razors and I would personally buy everyone I could at $14

Thanked: 1903This page says "forged": Damast-Rasiermesser - I shall investigate on your behalf.
So would I. Unfortunately, their prices are a lot higher than that.

Thanked: 1903I've heard Wacker = Böker, and Dovo = Henckels. I'll find out for you, though.
Equally off topic: I have seen around 50 Wacker razors, and they were mostly good. Some minor problems with the goldwash, but otherwise excellent. I know that over in another forum a certain someone has dissed them, but I have not seen any of the problems the poor fella encountered.
