    Default Newbie Here, Good Scores?

Hi, I'm pretty much a rank newb when it comes to straight razors. After discovering this site (yesterday) and reading around a bit, I went off to ebay and snagged a few razors:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320367248908
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120415198449

So what are your thoughts on them? You think these are decent razors and worth the money for restoration and honing?

    Hello. Welcome to the forum!
They're not bad. I particularly like the 1st one. Even if you don't restore them, at those prices they'd be good for honing practise!
Ideally, your 1st razor will be made shave ready by someone who knows what they're doing, so consider sending one out to a honemiester.
If you attempt it yourself you'll never know what you should be striving to achieve!

I think you did pretty good 5370H55V,

I would get one or two sharpened by a honemeister near you (you can find one in the classifieds), buy a strop and have fun shaving!!

    Hi and welcome.

    You did very well IMHO.

1st one is nicest razor I think, 2nd one has considerable hone wear but can be honed to give you many shaves. 3rd one hard to judge as pic is a bit poor. Blade looks a bit tapered towards the heel.

Probably best to send 1st out to hone meister and 2nd to practice your skills.
Or send them all 3 out and ask honemeister to decide which one he feels is best to hone.

G'day ,Welcome & Congrats on the buys. Really like the first one too. I'll buy it if you don't like it but sounds like I'l have to get in line
