Thanked: 0Oh I forgot to say, you haven't seen my Native American Flute collection or my collection of Didgeridoos! Both collections keep growing and will need their own room eventually. Ha ha. So, collecting eight razors in a week is nothing for me. Oh, and thanks for the link to that sell. He has a Dovo that I think I want. Umm, maybe.

If you do any more buying from the bay. Pay attention to how much hone wear there is on the spine. It is almost more important than having spotting or rust on the blade (aslong as it doesn't involve the edge.

Thanked: 0Thanks Pyment, will do. I have been following many of the recommendations from Lynn and a few of the razors I purchased have minimal to no use at all. One razor that I bought from a guy told me it was his fathers and he had brought it back from Germany after WWII. The seller had no idea what to do with a straight razor so he sold it on ebay for a steal. It was obvious that his father took good care of this razor. It's beautiful! I think the important thing, when buying from ebay, is to be careful. I know that most of the razors I bought may not be perfect but that's all good because I got almost all of them for a steal. The one's I can't use can simply be restored and put in a display case.

Thanked: 20I'm so jealous; I've been trying my hand on the 'bay but I never score the swag like the OP - anywhere I can read up on brands and lines beyond the wiki description of them?

Rawmark you beat me on that Martin by 50 cents brother! :-) Can't recall why I wanted that one but I'm glad a fellow member (and one with RAD) got it.

When I'm considering a razor from the bay, I usually have a few browser windows open as I look. The Wiki from here, the razor discussion board from here, and a general google search page. Between the 3 there are very few blades that I couldn't ID fairly quickly. I gotta say this whole site is a real treasure trove for info!

Thanked: 0Ok Folks,
I got a few more of the razors I won on ebay and with one, which is not bad so far, it looks as if it's beyond repair. Sure, I can polish it and put it in a case but I don't think it will make a good shaver. The sad part is that I love how the razor feels in my hand. The weight is nice. I believe it's a 6/8, which is my largest razor to date. The problem with this razor, is that it's been honed to death, and the razor edge has been sharpened to the point that it appears to be cutting into the writing. Since this is a Prince Albert Royal Patent Razor, I thik I'll just polish, buff and put it in a display case. I guess we live and learn with each purchase. Oh, and the spine on this razor is basically non-existent because it's been honed to death. LOL.
