... and in case the leather of that strop is beyond rescue, please keep the metal parts for a leather replacement.

I think I hang on to the gray fabric bit opposite the metal hardware. Old school.

Sorry, I don't know anything about reviving old strops. You might want to start a new post about it within the strops section so your question gets some more attention.

Are you going to be sharpening these razors yourself? Or sending a couple out to a honemeister?
I think that will depend on what they are. I'd be learning how to restore. If there are good blades in there - off they go. I'll be guided by SRPs input, naturally.

Hey. That sharpener strap is the reason I bid in the first place!

Ichinichi, I've just had a strop with similar hardware and a linen back.
I've cleaned it with saddle soap and the upper part worked out fine, but the lower part turned out totally hard and cracked. Maybe someone had placed it onto a heater.
I'll replace the leather, cause that twin hook is really neat and hard to find nowadays.

    You'll see after cleaning.

Looking at the tangs they look to be Sheffield. One of them could be American, but they all appear to be English and by extension German. Since Solingen and Sheffield shared a majority of blades and scales the tangs look similar.

You focused on the tangs...interesting. What character are you basing this assessment on? The little curl at the end of the tang? I was hoping for a WB on the frontmost razor based on the shoulder I could make out.

If you look at the tang where it meets the blade on the lower part. There is an angle there. On American blades the angle looks like this. There is a subtle difference here. The American version has that little extra just past the angled area below the name.

The English versions do not, the tang goes right into the blade.

This is not a hard and fast rule, it just seems to apply to most of the blades that I run into.
