    There were Jefferson razors.

I think that the provenance would be terribly hard to pin down, but you probably could with a lot of digging.

    Neat scales.

Could not see the hanging women though.

I believe the woman depicted was hung. Her neck is in a weird position and she looks dead. Who knows!? The Q&A on the bottom led me to that theory.

Out of curiosity I sent a msg asking to see pics of both sides of the entire blade. FWIW, here's part of the response:
"...I CAN TELL YOU THERE IS NO CRACKS. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO USE THIS RAZOR TO SHAVE WITH, I WILL PUT A MINT OLD GERMAN BLADE IN IT FOR A SMALL FEE..."

It baffles me that people are willing to pay so much for a piece of molded plastic.

Very neat piece of history, if it is a woman being hung. Mary Surrat was one of the Lincoln assassination plotters and was the first woman executed by the Government. (Some poetic license since she was fully clothed when hung.)
Rogers Cutlery has been in business since 1847, so the time frame is feasible if the blade is original.

    I wouldn't shave with it...

    Oh I like those scales!
And I always get outbid on them.

Te razors are usually really crappy but I'd love to make a mold to pour replicas.

Olivia I hope it's offline to refresh the razor selection :-)
